A Beginner’s Guide to Virgin Hair

Beauty & Style, Mix & Match Tips

Welcome Queens!

In an era where questioning the quality of beauty supply hair has become more evident, women have made the conscious decision to purchase better quality hair that will last them longer periods of time, rather than stopping every 2 weeks for a couple of $20 packs of “human” hair for a bob or a “quick” weave (literally). So I have decided to have a discussion on the topic of Virgin hair.

Just imagine… You get paid every two weeks, the same time frame you change out your tired do for a new do. You get on average, 2 packs of “human hair” and new bottle of weave glue. That will run you about $90 per month. When multiplied by 12, you have now spent almost $1100 in just one year. If you ask me…that is a lot of money. As a mother, I can only imagine how many more ways I could spend that money. Clothes, shoes, vacation, Manis and Pedis, and maybe even gifts for the hubby. Although this type of hair provides us with a variety of quick styles, Virgin hair will immediately provide you with quality and value over a period of time. As long as you take excellent care of your hair by conditioning it, limiting the use of heat to preserve the curl pattern, if any, as well as professionally coloring it, your virgin hair will immediately give you a return on your investment. With its lack of shedding and tangling, virgin hair is becoming a more attractive option to women all over the world.

Let’s talk a little more.

Have you ever wondered what the true meaning of Remy, Yaky, Virgin, Brazilian, Peruvian, Malaysian, EurAsian, or Indian hair is?

I’m pretty sure you have being that these are the most popular textures of human hair weaves used today.

First things first, Remy Hair is often categorized in the premium segment, as far as hair quality is concerned. Remy Hair is bundled in such a manner that the roots of the hair are on one side and the tip of the hair on the opposite side. Since all the hair cuticles are placed in the same direction, the hairs remain undisturbed, making them more durable, long lasting, and extremely desirable.

Now contrary to popular belief, Remy Hair does not always mean Virgin hair, in fact it rarely means that. I myself own a beauty supply store and sell so called Remy weaves almost every day. Although the two terms are used synonymously, in all honesty, they are completely different in meaning.

Now let’s talk about Yaky Hair: Sometimes referred to as Yaky or Regular Yaky or Regular Relaxed Yaky and even Yaky Perm (my favorite as a teen…couldn’t tell me nothing! Lol) Yaky is made to look like typical African hair that has been relaxed and because the strands are thicker, Yaky is not as silky as the Remy hair.

Last but definitely not least, Virgin hair is hair that’s is so pure, that it’s NEVER been processed or treated. This often means the donors have never in their lifetime gone to a salon to get their hair curled or colored! Hard to believe!

Brazilian, Peruvian, Malaysian, and Indian are all forms of Virgin hair. The hair is 100% natural and unprocessed as well as free of any damage to the cuticles. The hair usually emulates the texture of hair boasted by majority of women in the countries the hair is named after. Brazilian emulates the texture of the women of Brazil. With a mix of rich culture and ethnic backgrounds, this texture blends well with African hair and is becoming increasingly more and more popular. Indian hair, my personal favorite, is collected in the great temples of India. Women there sacrifice their hair for religious purposes. This hair rarely tangles and blends beautifully with a variety of ethnic hair types. European hair is collected in the CIS countries or Commonwealth of Independent States. These states consist of territories formerly known as the Soviet Union. The main difference of this hair consists that they have natural correct European colors, from dark brown to light-blonde. The structure of the hair is thin and silky. As expected, European hair blends well with women of European decent. And EurAsian is hair collected from women of mixed European and Asian descent.

Please note that there a many companies who boast to sell only Virgin hair. Please do the research and read the reviews. Truth is…about 97% of all human hair out there has been chemically treated in one form or another. Please begin to concentrate on attaining quality hair for you and your clients. The one fundamental key you want to know is how it’s being processed and treated. Virgin hair that has been processed with steam is truly Virgin. When purchasing hair, remember this is an investment, and please spend your hard earned money wisely.
